Plamen Angelov (M’99-SM’04) is a Chair Professor in Intelligent Systems and Data Science Group Leader at Lancaster University, UK. Plamen has 25+ years of professional experience in high level research and an active research portfolio in the area of computational intelligence, machine learning and world leading results in online and evolving learning and algorithms for knowledge extraction in the form of human-intelligible fuzzy rule-based systems. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers and two research monographs with 3500+ citations. He received 4 best paper awards (2006, 2009, 2012, 2013), ‘The Engineer Innovation and Technology Special Award’ (2008) IEEE and INNS award ‘For Outstanding Services’ (2013). He is the founding co-Editor-in-Chief of Springer’s journal Evolving Systems and Associate Editor of 2 IEEE Transactions and several other journals such as Applied Soft Computing, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Soft Computing.
Dmitry B. Goldgof is an educator and scientist working in the area of biomedical image analysis, video processing, pattern recognition and bioengineering. Dr. Goldgof has received the M.S. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Ph.D. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently a Professor and Associate Chair, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Florida, Professor, Department of Oncological Sciences, USF Health, and member of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. He held visiting positions at the University of California at Santa Barbara and at the University of Bern in Switzerland. Dr. Goldgof has graduated 22 Ph.D. and 43 MS students, published over 80 journal and 190 conference papers (high citations: h-index=42, g-index=75), 16 books chapters and edited 4 books.
Tadahiko Murata (S’96-M’97) received the B.S., M.S. and Ph. D degrees in Electrical and Information Technology from Osaka Prefecture University in 1994, 1996, and 1997, respectively. He has co-authored more than 150 peer reviewed publications in journals, books, and conferences including two Best Paper Awards. He founded and directed Grid Computing Laboratory, Kansai University from 2005 to 2010, and co-founded Research Institute for Socionetwork Strategies in 2008 as a National Joint Usage and Joint Research Institute by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Government of Japan. He co-founded the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Computation in 2010. Currently he is a member of Long-Term Plan Development Team for Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics. He served as a program committee member in a number of international conferences sponsored by IEEE SMCS, IEEE CIS, ISGEC and so on. He served as Program Chair in EMO2007 (Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization), General Chair in AESCS2012 (Agent-based Approaches in Economic and Social Complex Systems). His research interest includes evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, agent simulation and social simulation.
Shun-Feng Su (S’89-M’91-SM’05-F’10) received the B.S. degree in 1983, from National Taiwan University, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1989 and 1991, respectively, from Purdue University. He is now a chair Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Su has published more than 200 refereed journal and conference papers. Dr. Su is an IEEE Fellow. He has served and is presently an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, of IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy System, and of IEEE Access. He is also the Managing Editor of International Journal of Fuzzy Systems. He is now the president-elect of International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) and will be the IFSA president in 2015~2017.
MengChu Zhou (S’88-M’90-SM’93-F’03) received B.S. degree from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 1983, M.S. from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1986, and Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1990. He joined New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1990, and is now Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
His interests are modeling/analysis/control of complex systems with Petri nets, intelligent automation and optimization, big data, and Internet of Things. He has 11 books, 270 journal papers including 180 IEEE transactions papers, and 22 chapters with total 560 publications. His work has been funded by NSF, DoD, NIST, NASA, and industry. He has been among the most highly cited researchers for years and ranked as the top one most highly cited scholar in engineering globally in 2012 by Web of Science/Thomson-Reuters. He has been IEEE Fellow since 2003 and is also Fellow of IFAC and AAAS.
