Dear Readers,
Welcome to the fourth issue of the IEEE SMC Society eNewsletter of 2019!
As usual, this issue includes plenty of news on the Society, including the call for elections of the 2020-22 SMC Society BOG Members-at-Large, scheduled to take place between December 18th and January 15th. Remember to cast your vote!
This issue also features the Call for Nominations for the next triennium of the Editor-in-Chiefs for IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, for IEEE Transactions on SMC: Systems and for the IEEE SMC Magazine.
Further, the eNewsletter includes a report on this year’s successful SMC conference, which was held in Bari (Italy), http://smc2019.org/ and focused on Industry 4.0.
I am also happy to report that this issue of the eNewsletter includes a very interesting interview to Dr. Stuart Rubin, senior scientist at the Space and Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific), USA, Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Rubin presents us his research activities, with particular reference to the Technical Committee of Knowledge Acquisition in Intelligent Systems of the IEEE SMC Society, which he co-chairs.
This fourth and last issue of 2019 also features numerous calls for papers and calls for participation to conferences sponsored by the Society. In particular, October 11-14 are the dates reserved for next year’s edition of our flagship conference to be held in Toronto (Canada), http://smc2020.org/, whose theme is The Making of a Human-Centered Cyber World. You are all welcome to participate!
Finally, the eNewsletter features a listing of several upcoming SMC events and reports numerous job openings and funding opportunities.
I look forward to receiving your contributions and making the eNewsletter the leading forum of our Society.
Send us your feedback!
