Dear Readers,
This is the fourth and last issue of the year for the IEEE SMC Society (SMCS) eNewsletter.
Let me briefly describe this issue contents. The eNewsletter includes an exciting interview of our President-Elect for the 2018-2019 term, Dr. Edward W. Tunstel, who serves as Senior Roboticist at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, USA. Dr. Tunstel shares with us his views on his role as SMCS President-Elect, and his priorities and vision of the future. He also describes his professional, volunteering, and educational background, providing inspiration to all of us, especially to the youngest ones.
This issue also includes several interesting news on the Society. Do not miss the invitation to our next flagship conference that will be held in Banff, Canada, October 5-8, 2017. Please also find the Open Call for Nominations for the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems.
Finally, the eNewsletter features a listing of several upcoming SMC events and reports numerous job openings and funding opportunities.
I look forward to receiving your contributions and feedback!
With my best wishes for a happy and fruitful 2017.
