Editorial
This is the fourth, and last issue of the IEEE SMC Society e-Newsletter for 2013 which comes just following the 2013 SMC Conference and Board of Governors meeting held in Manchester, UK. I attended both events, and was impressed with the hospitality and the excellent organizational abilities of our colleagues in Manchester and United Kingdom.

The next IEEE SMC Conference will be held in San Diego, California from October 5-8, 2014. We will have all details regarding the conference in coming issues but at the moment SMC 2014 website is a best resource for updates, you visit http://www.smc2014.org for more details.

In this issue we have detailed report on Norbet Wiener Award. I would like this opportunity to congragulate Dr. William Gruver, who received this award for 2013. I would also like to congragulate new fellows who joined our ever growing society this year and look forward to meeting with these amazing people in coming months. We have also updated the list of Senior members who have been elevated in 2013. This has been a good year for SMC society, we had our members receive various awards and honours and I wish everyone good luck for 2014.

It is my intent to solicit and publish status reports from SMC volunteers at all levels. The reports will highlight the activities of each unit and encourage participation of members and non-members alike to further advance our contributions to technological and theoretical aspects of our fields of interest. Please do not wait for an invitation, just go ahead and submit all your news to share with your colleagues new and well established practices.

Future issues will feature reports by technical committee chairs on some of their activities, call for papers of special issues of transactions, tables of contents of forthcoming transactions, introduction to some of our local chapters, and at least one guest editorial among other novel features being planned.
