IEEE SMCS Membership Seminar in SMC Conference 2011

The IEEE SMCS Membership and Student Activities Committee has organized a Membership Seminar during the noon time on 11th October 2011 at the SMC Annual Conference 2011 in Anchorage, USA. This event aims to provide benefit information to our potential SMC members and GOLD members for joining the SMCS. There are about 30 potential and current members attended the seminar and learnt about how to join the SMCS and potential benefits of establishing new chapters and student branch chapters.

During the whole period of the SMC Annual Conference, a Membership Booth was setup next to the registration desk of the conference. It provides quick contact and information to potential members who want to learn how to join the membership or talk with our Committee officers.

We realize that each individual potential member has different needs and expectation to the SMCS when they join the society. Some of them may find networking is more important while GOLD members may find career opportunity and information more important. The Membership Committee is happy to chat with our members and potential members to better understand how we could serve our members.

Overall, we initiated four possible chapters to be established in near future and have quite a number of conference attendees show their interest of joining the SMCS. If you missed our seminar but would still like to learn about the benefit and method to join the SMCS, you are welcome to contact us. More information could be found in:
