Robotics is a synergistic discipline merging discoveries and inventions from various fields of science and technology. With inspiration from other disciplines we are able to build new kinds of robots that can serve humans in interesting and novel ways. The theme of ICAR 2011 is New Boundaries for Robotics. It will seek to share innovative ideas, weird connections, and unexpected mixes of technologies, methods and approaches which have been applied to solve new kinds of problems in emerging application areas.
The technical program of ICAR 2011 will consist of plenary talks, workshops, oral presentations and interactive sessions. Submitted papers should describe original work in the form of theoretical modeling, design, experimental validation, or case studies from all areas of robotics but in particular focusing on new emerging paradigms and application areas including but not limited to:
Submitted manuscripts undergo full-paper peer review. The accepted papers will be published in IEEE Explore, indexed by ISI Proceedings and EI.
Special Issue in Journal of Robotics and Autonomous Systems - Select papers from the Proceedings of ICAR 2011 will also be published in a special issue of the journal Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS). Selection of the candidate papers will be based on the novelty, significance, and clarity of the work; in particular, they shall well reflect the theme of New Boundaries for Robotics. The authors of these papers will be encouraged to submit an enhanced version of their work to this special issue, which will be subject to the same peer-review process required by RAS before acceptance for publication
