Our
goals
The Distributed Intelligent Systems Technical Committee is an
international special interest group of specialists active in the
research and applications of agent-based Distributed Intelligent
Systems. Key application areas include manufacturing and supply chains,
and infrastructures for service, energy, transportation, and emergency
management systems. The core research topics for these systems include
agent architectures, agent intelligence, agent communications, agent
collaboration, agent simulation and optimization, and agent
human-machine interfaces. Fundamental to these topics is the "role
based" approach for agent design.
The impetus for this technical committee
comes from the results of previous international consortia
and research programs in which many of our members have
participated. The Distributed Intelligent Systems TC will
provide a forum for our members to participate in this emerging
field and an opportunity for those who wish to become involved
in its further development both from theoretical and application
perspectives.
What
we are doing
- Special sessions on distributed intelligent systems and role-based
collaboration at the 2007 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man,
and Cybernetics in Montreal, Canada, October 2007
- Workshop on eNetworks Cyberengineering: Infrastructures for
Cyber-Physical Ecosystems at SMC 2007, October 2007
- Invited lectures on Distributed Intelligent Systems in Canada, China,
Japan, Taiwan, USA, and Europe, 2007-08
- 2008 IEEE International Conference on Distributed Human-Machine
Systems, March 9-12, 2008 in Athens, Greece
- SMC Workshop on Engineering Cyber-Physical Ecosystems at SMC 2008,
Singapore, October 12, 2008
- Special sessions at 2008 IEEE International Conference on Systems,
Man, and Cybernetics, Singapore, October 13-15, 2008
- Special issue on "Emergency Management Systems and Distributed
Intelligent Systems"
- Invited lectures at SMC Chapters worldwide
- Articles on professional activities of our members for submission to
the SMC eNewsletter
- Articles for submission to the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and
Cybernetics, Parts A, B, and C
Why
don't you join us?
The Technical Committee on Distributed Intelligent Systems provides you
with opportunities to continue professional and personal development by
- Networking with peers and experts in the field
- Keeping current with research and applications
- Exchanging your results with peers prior to publication or
commercialization
- Collaborating with experts in the field on significant challenges
- Gaining peer recognition by presenting workshops and tutorials, and
contributing articles to SMC publications
- Demonstrating leadership by organizing tracks and special sessions at
conferences, including the Bi-Annual Conference on Distributed
Human-Machine Systems
