The objective of the SMCS e-Newsletter is to create more of a bond between the members and the Society through disseminating timely information to the members and communities. I hope and encourage to get SMCS membership more involved in the Society's e-Newsletter that will willingly serve as a two way communication medium instead of more regular Society to membership information flow. The readers are always welcomed to submit articles to News-Features and guest articles, new publications, employment opportunities, and recent achievements among other things that you may think fall within the scope of the Newsletter.

SMCS e-Newsletter will continue to communicate the benefits and services of the Society to its readers by including items that describe the IEEE and the SMC Society, membership information, activities, and publications. You may also see the past Issues by visiting SMCS homepage at www.ieeesmc.org. Distinguished Lecturer Program is being worked out. You may learn full details about this program, SMCS distinguished lecturers, and how to request a lecturer visit by following the links at the Society homepage. We encourage new SMCS Chapters including student Chapters. Required assistance from the TCs and financial subsidies from SMCS are available. I also take this opportunity to welcome newly found Hong Kong Chapter.

Starting from this issue, we will include the tables of contents of the latest SMCS transactions with hot links to the abstracts for easy reference for our readers. You may proceed from there to view the full-text of the papers by clicking on the link [PDF Full-Text(xxxx kB)] therein using your web account information.

I am pleased to welcome this year's newly elected members-at-large and look forward to working with them in the new position. I would like thank everyone who devoted their time and contributed to this Issue of the e-Newsletter.
