Contributions to Petri nets and their applications to computer-integrated
systems.
MengChu Zhou
(S'88-M'90-SM'93) received the Ph.D. degree in computer and systems
engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, in
1990. He joined New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, in 1990,
and is currently a Professor of electrical and computer engineering
and the Director of Discrete-Event Systems Laboratory. He is interested
in computer-integrated robotic systems, disassembly automation,
Petri nets, Internet-based manufacturing, wireless network security,
and intelligent control. He has more than 170 publications including
four books, 40 journal papers, and 10 book chapters. Dr. Zhou was
the recipient of the National Science Foundation¡¦s
Research Initiation Award, the CIM University-LEAD Award by the
Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Perlis Research Award, the
Humboldt Research Award for US Senior Scientists, the Asian American
Achievement Award by Asian American Heritage Council of New Jersey,
and the Leadership Award by the Chinese Association for Science
and Technology-USA. He has been an editor of the International Journal
of Intelligent Control and Systems since 1996. [ for
