Welcome to the final Issue of IEEE SMCS e-Newsletter for the year 2004. We have had 4 postings this year and hope to increase the frequency of Newsletter posting by couple of more in the next year depending on the enthusiasm of our readers and membership.

Renew your IEEE membership online at http://www.ieee.org/renewal . Therein, you may also customize your IEEE Membership and learn more about the IEEE Societies, IEEE Member Digital Library, Technical Publications and many other member benefits. If you are yet to become an IEEE member, I encourage you to apply for the membership, and take this opportunity to join SMC Society and actively involve in our society activities. IEEE SMCS member benefits also include electronic access to full-text PDFs of the SMCS transactions listed below (Click on the transaction to view Tables of Contents):

a.. IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part A: Systems and Humans

I would also like to mention about an IEEE membership promotion drive, namely MGM (Member-Get-A-Member for Higher Grade members) and SGS (Student-Get-A-Student for Students) Programs Launch in September. This program encourages you as a current member to introduce IEEE to new members to join. In return for the recruiting efforts, IEEE members will receive a voucher that may be applied to a future IEEE invoice. Special circumstances dues programs or reduced dues (e.g., retired and unemployed members) have frequently been published in the Announcements section of our e-Newsletters ( http://www.ieeesmc.org/announcements/index.html ).
Please contact IEEE Member Services at http://www.ieee.org/memberservices for inquiries.

IEEE e-Newsletter will feature your Employment Opportunities announcements and other relevant information reports free of charge. I would also like to encourage the readers to make best use of the "News" corner of the Newsletter also to tell the world about your new research endeavors that got off the ground recently or recent activities at your research center or the company. E-mail your submissions and contributions directly to me at ttlee@cn.nctu.edu.tw . You may also include couple of video clips or pictures.

I take this opportunity to wish all our readers and SMCS members a very happy new year 2005. Thank you for your contributions to this Issue of the e-Newsletter. In the coming year too, I eagerly expect your contributions, comments and suggestions to the IEEE SMCS e-Newsletter as it is your input that is most important for the furtherance of this publication.
